Thoughts on Dating an Unbeliever

Bride in white dress running away from her own wedding. This artlcle by Kathy Keller, wife of pastor Tim Keller of Redeemer Church in New York, talks about good reasons why as a Christian you shouldn’t marry a believer. She has been involved in counseling many women in unhappy marriages who got involved with a non-Christian guy, got married and now experience pain and loneliness. If only she could have these women sit down with someone who was younger and thinking about marrying a non-Christian, then they would have a better picture of what they would be facing in an unequally yoked marriage. Either you would have to push your faith to the outer margins of your life to keep peace in your marriage, or you would have to marginalize your spouse to participate in Christian activities. Either scenario will create constant tension and stress in your life.
