Are you new to Cal Poly Cru? There are several different ways to get connected or just find out more about us.
Weekly Meeting Thursdays at Noon Hour
Our large group meeting is at noon in the Bronco Student Center on Thursdays. Last year we had about 75-100 students come to our meetings. When you first walk in, there’s a table of students to greet you and give you a name tag like everyone else is wearing. Then we start some singing, followed by some announcements, and a short talk from the Bible given by either our staff, student leaders, or a local pastor. The meeting ends in time for you to get to a 1:00 class.
Small Group Bible Studies
There are three studies that meet throughout the week in the dorms and on campus especially for Freshmen and Transfer students:
Mondays 8-9:30pm-meet in Encinitas Lobby
Wednesdays 5-6pm-meet in front Bronco Copy N Mail
Thursdays 5-6pm-Bronco Copy N Mail
If you are interested, you can stop by our table on campus, or contact us by filling out this form on our Get Connected page. You are welcome to visit without making a commitment. It is an open group.
Fall Retreat
October 28-30 of 5th week is our Fall Retreat. Freshmen and Transfer students get a discounted rate. Located in Crestline at Camp Seely, the fall retreat is geared towards new people meeting other students as well as learning more about Cru. We’ll have guest speakers, great food, and fun. You’ll learn more about our vision as a movement and where we are headed. We hope it will be a refreshing time for everyone that attends as they connect with God and others. There will be a Facebook group with more information. You can keep in touch by liking Cal Poly Cru on Facebook.
Tuesday Prayer and Share
On Tuesdays from 12-1pm we meet at the stables. Half of us goes out to have share the Gospel using various tools like Knowing God Personally, Soularium, or Perspective cards. The other half stays and prays for the people going out sharing. You can also just go along with a person “sharing” and observe. It is a great learning time as we engage with others by learning to communicate in the context of the college campus without compromising the truth and beauty of the Gospel.
Winter Conference
December 28-Jan 31 is a conference in San Diego with college students coming from all over California and Arizona. You learn more by visiting the website for the San Diego Winter Conference.
Spring Break
For a few days of Spring Break we have a an Outreach/ Service project to places in California. In the past we have partnered with other Cru movements from UCI and UC Davis to work with local churches in San Diego and Northern California. In 2010, we went to Tucson, Arizona to spend time learning more about reaching Muslim students with the Gospel.
Summer Opportunities to Reach the World
Summers provide opportunities to get trained in ministry skills here in the US on short mission projects. We also have trips to closed countries in the Middle East to share the Gospel with college students. GoSummerProject.com has more information on all the available projects Cru has next summer.
